The 7th Precinct Police Station was built in 1960 at the corner of Mack Ave and Elmwood Street. During that time, the Detroit Police Department had hired over 100 new police officers to work at the new police station and patrol nearby Gratiot Ave. The station was to replace the aging 3rd Precinct Police Station, that was located down the street at Gratiot Ave and Hunt Street.
The 7th Precinct Police Station closed in 2005 and was heavily scrapped, looted, and vandalized. By 2013, the wooden boards and windows had been completely removed, leaving the former police station wide open for anyone to enter.
In 2015, the 7th Precinct Police Station was finally demolished.
