The United Artists Theater was built in 1928 and was located at 150 Bagley Street, in downtown Detroit. The United Artists Theater was designed by noted-Detroit architect C. Howard Crane in Spanish-Gothic style architecture. The United Artists Theater Building is attached to the theater. The United Artists Theater Building is 18-stories tall and used to occupy the National Bank of Detroit. The United Artists Theater Building was also designed by C. Howard Crane in an all-brick Renaissance Revival style architecture. The United Artists Theater and the United Artists Theater Building both closed for good in 1984. ...

Little Caesars pizza magnate, Mike Illitch bought the United Artists Theater and the United Artists Theater Building in 1997 and have done little to help bring the theater or the building, back to life. In 2006, Illitch’s Olympia Entertainment claimed they were going to turn the former theater and building into residential lofts.

As of 2015, the United Artists Theater and the The United Artists Theater Building still sit abandoned. The plans are to convert the abandoned theater into residential lofts and retail space, but nothing has happened just yet.
